JMID New Stills!

(thanks to mapofeighteen)

"Easily the most recognizable of American festivals, it’s exciting that the 2014 edition of Sundance is so genre-heavy.  There’s of course the highly anticipated midnight section, but beyond that is a selection of several bits of horror scattered through the likes of NEXT, Premieres and, in the case of the below film, the U.S. Dramatic Competition. FANGORIA Presents an exclusive look at JAMIE MARKS IS DEAD, a brand new horror film rooted in the experience of youth from THE RUINS director Carter Smith.
Based on the novel ONE FOR SORROW by Christopher Barzak, JAMIE MARKS IS DEAD is described as a love story, infused with elements of horror and the supernatural. In a wintry small town, the body of a teenager named Jamie Marks is found by the river. Adam, the star of his cross-country team, becomes fascinated with Jamie—a boy nobody really knew or interacted with, except occasionally to bully him. When Jamie’s ghost begins to appear both to Adam and Gracie, the classmate who discovered the body, Adam is caught between two worlds. He has a budding romance with Gracie, but he also feels a deep connection to Jamie, who brings him closer to the world of the undead.Directed by Smith (his first since the underrated THE RUINS), JAMIE MARKS IS DEAD stars Liv Tyler, Judy Greer, SHAMELESS’ Cameron Monagahan, Morgan Saylor and Noah Silver.  The film is produced by, among others, Jacob Jaffke, who’s previously helped usher in Ti West’s THE INNKEEPERS and THE SACRAMENT, as well as last year’s excellent vampire film KISS OF THE DAMNED.
Jaffke tells Fango, “It’s a supernatural teenage drama that does a superb job of satisfying fans of both genres. It delivers on some freaky and downright unnerving sequences while at the same time is elegantly portraying the lives of these misfit teenagers (one of whom is actually dead) that are searching for that elusive sense of ‘belonging’ that consumes so many of us in our adolescence.  It’s a melancholic, somber and beautiful film peppered with scares and surprises. I can’t wait to see how audiences react next week at Sundance.”
JAMIE MARKS IS DEAD makes its world premiere Sunday, January 19 at 8:30pm at the Library Center Theatre in Park City, Utah. For much more on the film and Sundance at large, keep an eye on Fango."
